Superfresh does food giveaways monthly at the Factory (see our calendar) and is looking to partner on our community fridge.

Kris Hoellens (B&O Railroad Museum)

Kris Hoellen from B&O spoke of the renovations taking place at museum to celebrate its 200 year anniversary. There will be an outdoor area for movies, just sitting around, etc. There will be a new entrance and different place for parking from the Pigtown side. Work should be done by January for the anniversary year. Different floors will have different events. 2nd floor will have exhibits of past and future with 14k sqft. There will be a floor suitable for meetings. The exhibits follow the centuries of the railroads history.

Kris was asked about access through tracks to Carroll Park. She said she has no say over this. It is a Federal Railroad and it and CSX would have to give permission. Anything that has a train is considered to be a danger and it is illegal to cross the tracks. Kris was asked about the horse stable which is now empty. She said there are some things in the works and will advise what will take place at the stables. 38 million redevelopment overall. Existing amphitheater seats 1k, new space 250-350.

Meghan -Amphitheater going to be open to public during day? Kris confirms. The museum is a member of museums for all - snap benefits get $3 for 4 entry or free
Tom - how many more visitors? 33k sqft more museum with 200th anniversary bringing 2-3x more visitors.
Nick - upgrades to arlington ave pedestrian access across tracks.
Mia - talk about connecting Mount Clare to Carroll Park with a connection.
Kris - illegal to cross no plans for crossing, class 2 regulated track, CSX would be involved, b&o cant just allow.
Jeff - mount clare feeling ignored by b&o; Kris - turning entrance brought b&o closer to Mount Clare, moving entrance puts traffic and people closer to neighborhood.
Nicole - geographically Mias question is related to stable; Kris - BPD left stable last year and disbanded mounted unit, board committee looking at repurposing, if external use needs to pay rent and maintain.
Kris speaks to the potential for a neighborhood group tour day when the renovations are complete.
