I recently found out that reporting decrepit sidewalks doesn’t fine the property owner, but instead puts the sidewalk into a 7-8 year backlog of work queue for the city to repair the sidewalks. The city does them cheaper than private contractors, so if you see a busted sidewalk report it on 311 and post about it here - more 311s get things taken care of faster, so we might be able to get bumped up the priority. Owners get a citation for the predicted cost of repair, but they don’t pay that until it actually gets done.
Remember to report it on 311 first! Make sure to share the request ID / SR number, and then the photo and location in addition if you want to.
